I stumbled on the lovely packaged Coconut Thins by Shores of Africa, a U.K. based healthy snack brand owned by Nigerian siblings, on Instagram few weeks ago. The Coconut Thins are African-Inspired and currently available in 4 flavours: Original, Pineapple, Mango and Banana with a hint of Chilli. I fell in love with the beautiful packaging and the brand and I was curious to know the people behind it. In no time, I got chatting with Alero, the co-founder, and a couple of weeks later, I received some freshly baked samples from Shores of Africa. I couldn’t wait to try them!
The Coconut Thins are handmade in small batches, with passion and care. I tried the Original flavour first and it was so tasty and delicious. Then, I paired it with a Cuppa. It was fantastic! It had a light crunch to it with some coconuty flavour.
The following day, I tried the Mango flavour and I was torn between the Original and Mango flavours. I couldn’t decide my favourite as they both tasted really good. It had a nice Mango flavour that agreed with my palate. You can eat the Coconut Thins on its own, with a dip, yoghurt, tea or anything at all! For the Mango Thins, I decided to make some Pitaschio Butter to serve as a dip. The combination was heavenly! Too yummy for words. It was that good.
I am absolutely impressed with the quality, taste and originality of the products. Having tried these 2 flavours, I had to get the Banana with a hint of Chilli and Pineapple flavours. I was extremely excited when Alero, informed me that she will be at the Free From Festival on Bank Holiday Monday.
I had a lovely time chatting with Alero at the festival and also bought some extra packs to take home. At Chopstreets, we are always excited when see individuals like Alero put Africa on the UK and global food map.
I would totally recommend Shores of Africa Coconut Thins to everyone. It is a healthy and tasty snack that can easily replace your Chocolate bars, Cookies, Biscuits, Crisps, etc. The Coconut Thins do not contain Refined Sugar or GMO ingredients.
They are also suitable for Vegans and people with special dietary needs. The snacks are free from Gluten, wheat, dairy and eggs. You use them to entertain your guests at home, in the office, seminars or conferences or just eat them yourself. But be warned, it is addictive!
